Hands Heart Head Retreat (postponed due to the 2020 confinement) June 2021

- -

Postponing this wonderful retreat has meant that more of you now have the opportunity to join us in 2021! There is no better investment than this retreat for healing the soul and creating fun-filled memories after what is and will have been a challenging time for most. Don't delay in booking one of the last remaining spaces.

This is a 5 night/6 day therapeutic retreat filled with a vast array of self-healing opportunities, art therapy, yoga and the opportunity to explore and awaken the creativity within and all the while having some fun. The art and yoga workshops have been designed differently by Mel so that those who have attended before are introduced to new mediums. Praana Wellness has a few new surprises in store for those returning and our new guests, a wood-fired hot tub for watching the sun go down with your apero and a wooden cabin on the edge of the woods replaces our safari tent. Ideal for a couple who might like a little privacy away from the main house. Activities in 2021 will involve a Mural group workshop which is designed to be worked on as and when you wish through your stay in your free time, a 'Thinking with Ink' workshop (as this is Mel's signature medium - not to be missed - she's a genius and since she was with us has been doing commissions all over Asia in shopping malls and restaurants!). This workshop is suitable for all and will also advance any returners! Additionally there will be a tie dye workshop and fun sculpting with paper maché. There will be yoga or mindfulness workshops each morning and yoga nidra under the stars. Between Melanie and Amanda there is a wealth of counselling experience and they will be available for support throughout the workshops. Additional counselling sessions will be available with Amanda during your stay (not included).

You can participate in the workshops as much or as little as you wish. This is YOUR therapeutic retreat and there will be plenty of time to simply relax by our pool or have massage treatments with our resident masseuse, the wonderful Susan of Blissful Brown.
Also included in the package is tea and fruit before morning yoga, a buffet brunch mid-morning and a buffet dinner with apero. Afternoon cake and tea all day is included to keep your energy up! There will be an opportunity to visit the local distillery to tour and taste the Cognac. One evening there will be a visit to a local french restaurant for dinner (not included).
Praana Wellness @ Chez Vallée is delighted to be co-hosting this 5 night/6 day therapeutic retreat with Melanie Bayoud of Embee Designs again. Our first retreat in 2018 was a phenomenal experience for hosts as well as participants.
About Melanie - Melanie has a wealth of experience spanning decades in the psychiatric nursing and counselling field. As a self-confessed and self-taught 'doodle fanatic' and illustrator from birth, Melanie, has, more recently been hosting workshops to relieve stress and using a selection of creative brain games and challenges to enable people to discover hidden self-help tools they didn't know they had!
About Amanda - A psychotherapist and mental health psychologist , yoga teacher, Ayurvedic practitioner and personal coach specialising in addiction, eating disorders, adolescence and family issues, couples relationship counselling and adoption.

<h1>Couples/family Counselling Weekends</h1>

Couples/family Counselling Weekends

A relationship is hard work! We cannot become complacent. Often we are overcome with the routine and challenges of daily life; work, children and health and all of a sudden we simply assume that our relationship will continue to thrive with little or no effort! No! It won’t.

Amanda has been counselling and working with couples and families in a global expatriate environment for 30 years now. She offers intensive weekends for couples throughout the season (between April and October) at Praana Wellness. Arrive Friday evening, have an opening session to establish what you would like to achieve, have a relaxing dinner, perhaps a massage and then commit to 3 sessions of investigative therapy over the next 48 hours. Whether or not your relationship is at crisis point or you simply need a refresher it’s amazing what can be achieved in such a short period of time and with a combination of brainstorming through therapy and an introduction to couples or family yoga. Yes, I said yoga! It works.

Oh, and be prepared for homework – it doesn’t end when you leave Praana Wellness! It is always a work in progress.

Follow - up sessions often continue via video link.

<h1><strong>'Dancing with your Doshas' an Introduction to Ayurveda</strong></h1>

'Dancing with your Doshas' an Introduction to Ayurveda

'Dance with the Doshas' An introduction into Ayurveda and your individual constitution. 21-day programme 1-21 December 2020 (£50)

An online course

Perhaps designed for anyone who has heard a little about the wonders of Ayurveda but know little (or nothing!). Explore this deep and ancient science in a way designed for western cultures. I have been adapting Ayurveda for my clients in cultures outside of Asia for almost 10 years now and it can be a life-changer in terms of taking back control of physical and mental well-being. The aim of this 21-day programme is to give you enough information to take or regain control and, to realise that it can fit in with our western lifestyles even as we run up to holiday season. There are 6 educational videos on Ayurveda, a private support group and an opportunity for you to explore your own individual constitution at your available times. These 21-day courses have down-loadable material that you can keep - there is no time limit. We are here to help you.

<h1><strong>Reset and Transition with the Seasons</strong></h1>

Reset and Transition with the Seasons

-

Online Course

This 21-days is designed to help support you through the transition of summer to autumn/winter - one many people find difficult. There is loss, there is sadness and there is uncertainty as we move out of summer. Add to that the heaviness of the current global situation and we have all of those feelings magnified. Our October group brought together people from all over the world and gave them a focus that we often ignore in times of turmoil and change. That is the (re)focus on themselves that is so necessary, their own strengths and their own (often forgotten) ability to build resilience to the volatility all that surrounds us. Understanding how the seasons influence this and ourselves is paramount to our own contribution to a balanced health and mental well-being. The cost of this 21-day programme is just £30 and included in this are educational videos, seasonal advice (Ayurveda) and setting and maintaining healthy habits. There are 2 live Zoom meetings for questions & answers and the opportunity to be supported in a private group through a month that many find challenging. Email amanda@praanawellness.com to register.

<h1><strong>Africa Yoga Safari</strong></h1>

Africa Yoga Safari

-

“Treat yourself, there is no one more deserving.”

Our beloved and long awaited African yoga safari is being postponed until November 2021 due to the unexpected pandemic and restrictions on travel this year. We are grateful for the patience and understanding of those already signed up and delighted that this now gives those who weren't sure plenty of time to plan and save towards this trip of a lifetime.

Africa has always, and will always, have my heart. Zimbabwe (once known as the ‘breadbasket of Africa’) has the most temperate of climates and the warmest of people. We are offering you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience real Africa with an experienced guide. Two very different wildlife experiences, a 4-day house boat trip on Lake Kariba (the biggest man-made lake in the world) and Victoria Falls, the world heritage site that is the ‘Smoke that Thunders’. The safari includes yoga and meditation, suitable for all levels, while we drift on the lake and the adventure includes visits to a game reserve and a wildlife conservation centre near the capital city, Harare as well as the Victoria Falls National Park. There are also options for a walking safari and a Zambezi sunset cruise. This schedule has been carefully planned to take the best of our trip in 2018 and add some new destinations that are equally as breath-taking and exciting.

We have included two extra nights and another two great tourist destinations in Zimbabwe. Firstly, Harare, a city that has much to offer in the way of game reserves and wildlife conservation ranches, two of which you will be visiting, bringing you up close and personal to Africa’s most endangered species – the Rhino. Our other new destination is Lake Kariba. Float by the petrified trees that stand eerily in front of the spectacular sunsets while you watch elephants at the waters edge, crocodiles and hippos thrashing through the water and, as you lie in one of the luxury cabins (or for the more adventurous take your bed to the outer deck, under the African skies) you can listen to the lions as they call at night.

The silence of the lake is an opportunity for you to reset your wellbeing, to immerse yourself in nature and to remove yourself from all things connected. We invite you to take the opportunity presented by these four days to fully recharge. The boat is a private charter, fully staffed, with all meals provided. A yoga nidra programme for the evenings and a movement class in the mornings will be available while we are on the boat together with massage and other treatments to those who would like to supplement their wellness itinerary!

My fondest memories of our family trips around southern Africa were the road trips. We have chosen to take you on an overland adventure from Harare to Kariba through rural villages to give you a real taste of this beautiful country. We have chosen to fly from Harare to Victoria Falls as the trip is much longer and we would rather you spend your time at the Falls on our organised outings into the National Park and at the Boma dinner rather than spend further time on the road. While we are at Victoria Falls you will have plenty of time to explore one of the many adventure options that you may wish to try.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival into Harare International Airport, Zimbabwe. Airport transfer to Casa Kadiki.

(We recommend you come into Harare the day before if your flight doesn’t arrive early morning because we have a trip organised at 1pm)

1pm - Road trip (approximately one hour) to Wild Is Life Sanctuary (https://www.wildislife.com/) where you will interact with the wildlife (under supervision!), have high tea and round off the afternoon with drinks and canapé’s before being transferred back to Casa Kadiki where there are an array of shops and a restaurant on site should you like to take supper this eve.

Day 2

Road transfer to Lake Kariba, taking us through rural farming areas and towns (approximately five hours). An opportunity to really see the rawness of this beautiful country. We will have a picnic lunch en route.

Arrive in the town of Lake Kariba (http://www.wildzambezi.com/locations/15/lake-kariba) and board the house boat for 4 nights gently touring the lake, fully catered for and with a crew. Cabins are two people sharing. Cabins are shared, air-conditioned and with full shower room facilities.

There will be two yoga sessions per day while we are on the boat cruising the lake.

Day 3 - 5

House boat cruising on Lake Kariba

Day 6

Road transfer, with a picnic lunch, back to Casa Kadiki, Harare where there will be a restful afternoon and evening.

Dinner will be at the lovely Amanzi restaurant in the city.

Day 7

Road transfer to Thetford Game Reserve (https://thetfordgamereserve.com/)

We will spend the day game viewing on a bush safari. Included is a two-course lunch and sundowners before we are transferred back to Casa Kadiki.

After an energetic day at the game reserve, supper will be at Casa Kadiki.

Day 8

Road transfer to Harare Domestic Airport where we will take an internal flight to Victoria Falls. These flights are not included because it is more economical to book them yourself online. However, we will co-ordinate the flight so we all travel together.

Transfer to Bayete Lodge, Victoria Falls where we will stay for two nights.

Visit Victoria Falls National Park as a group.

Evening cultural experience – The Boma Dinner.

Day 9

This day will be free for you to do what you would most like to do. There is no shortage of options. For those on a return trip with us, this might be your opportunity to take advantage of one of the many extra activities such as a helicopter ride, a bungee jump or a swing over the gorge! We can provide first-hand knowledge about the adventure tours, please just ask.

I would recommend joining me on the walking safari to the Zambezi National Park during the day and then to spend our final evening on the Zambezi river. This sunset cruise, taking in the riverside wildlife whilst having a full three-course meal with drinks, is the perfect way to bid ‘adieu’ to this extraordinary country. If you are interested in joining these activities then please confirm when reserving your place on the Praana Wellness Africa Yoga Safari.

Day 10

Fly out of Victoria Falls. I will be taking a return flight back to Harare to visit friends. You may want to consider the fact that Victoria Falls airport is an international airport and you can make connections to other countries from here. Therefore, it may not be necessary for you return to Harare, although the flights may work out more economical that way. If you wish to add to your trip and stay in Africa a little longer then I can help with suggestions and pointers as you organise your trip onwards.

Itineraries to a country like Zimbabwe take time to put together. It would be easier to organise a safari to Kenya or South Africa. However, the experience will be much more authentic. Zimbabwe is a truly wonderful country and deserves to be worshipped and invested in while it is still one of the great tourist destinations in Africa.

You can use our online payment facility to book your place now for €3830 per person.
