As autumn is rolling in we felt it was time for a seasonal reset here at Praana Wellness so we thought we would kick it off with a sugar-free week. Following on from our sugar-free January earlier this year, we have a growing online community of individuals across the world who were all very keen to join us. This week serves to remind us to be aware of what we are putting into our bodies as many food contains hidden ‘healthy’ sugars which we can easily get a few too many off in our daily diet. Here at Praana Wellness we stress that everybody is different and that no one ‘detox’ fits all. We all have different body types, schedules and activity levels… all of which have various impacts on appetite and energy.
We aim to encourage people to listen to their bodies and nourish themselves with delicious nutrient-dense foods; these include vegetables, legumes, fruits, nuts and seeds. If we can fill up on these food groups then we won’t be so inclined to reach for a sugary treat. Following on from this week we should feel detoxed and energised following the busy (yet fun!) summer months.
At the end of our sugar-free week we can begin to reintroduce natural unrefined sugars back into our diet (within moderation!) Here is one of our favourite nutritious desserts here at Praana Wellness:
Avocado Mousse (serves 1)
1 x frozen banana
½ x avocado
1 tablespoon maple syrup
½ tablespoon cacao powder
Blitz and serve with berries.
